The total number of students was 302, including kindergarten pupils of 60. The elementary students included grade 1 to grade 4.

With this educational support program, total of 265 Aeta Students were benefited.

The following is the list of donated items:

  1. School stationery materials for printing.
  2. Feeding for malnourished (under weight 65kg) students.  Distributed dry foods each bag with vegetables and fruits.
  3. Rice donation for School faculty.
  4. Donated 7 boxes of thermal gun scanner for fever and ample supply of antibacterial soup for hand washing.
  5. Distribution of school materials for 265 students at Christmas Gift Giving for Day Care Center, providing toys, assorted cookies and chocolate. Additional snack for 60 students and parents.
  6. Snack distribution at elementary school faculty year end party.
  7. Sponsored lunch for the school visitors who held the program for face to face classes grade 1 to 3
  8. Sponsored medals for graduation and for the recognition day
]]> Aetas in Olongapo – Support for New Distance Learning https://www.rotarymm.org/support-for-new-distance-learning-aetas-in-olongapo/ Fri, 09 Oct 2020 18:52:03 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=2468 Since September 25, 2020 on, our club Rotarian Imelda who lead Aeta support project in Olongapo had assisted in providing sanitary items for the pandemic measure instructed by the department of education of the Philippines prior to school class reopening on October 5, 2020.

Rotarian Imelda worked together with Aeta village community elementary school in Subic Bay, Zambales.

The donated items by our club include the followings:

  • KN95 & Disposable Facemasks
  • Disposable Gloves
  • Hand Sanitizing Bar Soaps

Our club Rotarian Imelda continued to provide school supplies and sanitary materials for distance education to Aeta students. The donated materials by our club included the followings:

  • LONG PLASTIC ENVELOPE FOR THE MODULE EDUCATION
  • BACKPACKS, NOTEBOOKS, PENCIL & PEN
  • FACE SHIELDS, SOAP, TOOTHPASTE, FACE POWDER, SHAMPOO, ETC.
  • NOODLES & COOKIES

The parents of the students in the Aeta Village appreciated the support that Rotarian Imelda and our club provided as they believe that education is the key to success in life.

]]> 2019 Aeta Daycare Christmas Gift Giving https://www.rotarymm.org/2019-aeta-daycare-christmas-gift-giving/ Sat, 14 Dec 2019 01:32:40 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=2027 On December 10, 2019, Rotary Club of Multinational Manila R.I. District 3810 (RIMM) sponsored Xmas gift giving event for Aeta, which is one of the minority indigene in the Philippines. Assorted toys, chocolate, cookies, candies, donuts, coffee mugs, etc. had been donated for the event.
About 50 Aeta daycare students and 20 Aeta mothers participated to the event held at Aeta Village, Bataan.

On December 12, 2019, another Christmas event was held at the same place for Aeta Elementary School students to which RIMM also sponsored. Total of about 30 including students, parents and teachers participated and enjoyed.

Both events were lead by Rotarian Imelda assisted by past president Ivan.

]]> AETA – Oplan Balik Eskwela https://www.rotarymm.org/aeta-oplan-balik-eskwela/ Wed, 03 Jul 2019 20:22:49 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=1968 Oplan Balik Eskwela (OBE) is a project lead by the Department of Education involving other governmental agencies to ensure safe and smooth starting of school year.

Incidentally, Brigada Eskwela or the National Schools Maintenance Week is a nationwide initiative by the Department of Education (DepEd) that mobilizes thousands of parents, alumni, civic groups, local businesses, non-government organizations, teachers, students, and individuals who volunteer their time and skills to do repairs  

May 20-30, 2019, our Rotarian Imelda supported Aeta Village Elementary School for repainting tables, installing bamboo fences, planting various plants and cleaning rooms under OBE and Brigada Eskwela.

Our club and club Rotarian Imelda Donated painting and cleaning materials and school bags and supplies to grade 4 Aeta students.

The school teachers and approx. 260 students are benefited and appreciated our support.

Prizes for games were also provided.

]]> Aetas Programs 2018 https://www.rotarymm.org/aetas-programs-2018/ Mon, 10 Dec 2018 03:56:22 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=1662 RIMM has supported Aetas, one of the minority tribes in the Philippines, who live around Subic, Olongapo areas.

Sponsored High School Aeta Students

In June 2018,ten Aetas high school students were sponsored with 4,500 pesos each annually to purchase their school uniforms, shoes, notebooks, bags, umbrellas, etc. The fund assistance will continue until their graduation. The sponsorship was originally established by the club founder Petrus Indrisi (deceased) and has been carried over with the club Rotarian Imelda and Ivan Indrisi (Petrus’s son).


Feeding 300 Aeta Kid Students

On July 22, 2018, a feeding program for 300 Aeta kid students was conducted by our club Rotarian Imelda in Subic, Xambales in order to nourish the malnourished children. The food fed included quail eggs and juices costing 10,000 pesos total.  The feeding program has been conducted annually.

October Indigenous Month Celebration

On October 25, 2018, Indigenous Month Celebration was held in Aetas community village. A dance competition under the theme of “solar power” was organized by our club Rotarian Imelda, providing cash prizes of 1st 10K, 2nd 8K, 3rd 5K and best costumes 2K pesos. The event has been held annually lead by Rotarian Imelda.

ICT Room Aetas Students

Our club Rotarian Imelda donated 10,000 pesos and purchased materials (wood, paint, etc.) to make 6 desktop computer tables in the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) room, benefiting grade five and six students.


INDIGENOUS TALENT FESTIVAL

On December 14, 2018, indigenous talent festival chiefly sponsored by the Department of Education was held in Hermosa, Bataan. Our club sponsored 13 indigenous students from Aetas village traveled 2 kilometers and attended the event. Our sponsorship was lead by our Rotarian Imelda.

]]> Midyear Review 2017 https://www.rotarymm.org/midyear-review-2017/ Wed, 25 Jan 2017 07:49:42 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=1063 All Star President (ASP) Midyear Review was held on January 21-22, 2017 in Clark, Panpanga, Philippines. Since ASP Casey needed to attend the guests from Japan for Rotary’s fundraising and membership recruitment during the period, PP Klaus attended the midyear review on behalf of him.

At midyear review, PP Klaus shared our club’s projects, such as family planning, teenage pregnancy forums, End TB program, and post typhoon Haiyan victimized area research and support trip. Since the venue was close to where indigenous tribe Aetas live, honorary Rotarian Jun and PP Klaus extended their support to them as it is one of our service projects.

In the meantime, ASP Casey succeeded in inviting 10 more new members to RIMM and funding with sales of district raffle tickets.
