The assorted educational toys were donated by Rotary International Multinational Manila (RIMM) in cooperation with Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH).

The Kindergarten students enjoyed hot porridge served by the Fraternal Order of Eagle members of Barangay Sicat.

The young students were grateful for the toys they received and were already excited to play with their educational toys.

The Kindergarten teacher said the toys will be enjoyed by many for the years to come.

There are about 40 young kids enrolled at the DayCare ages 3.5 to 5 years old.

The donation of assorted toys were jointly donated by Rotary International Multinational (RIMM) and Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH). Barangay Sicat Councilor Jen assisted in the event.

Members of the Fraternal Order of Eagles from Barangay Sicat offered nutritious porridge for everyone present at the Daycare.

Present in the event were Past Presidents Casey, Henry, Manilito, RIMM President Raymund, Ken and 2 RIMM scholars from Camp Hope who have recently graduated from college.

The 2 RIMM sponsored scholarship recipients shared their actual experiences coming from a big family of 9 members and completing college for a brighter future.

The bulk of the school supplies were much needed writing notebooks, composition notebooks, intermediate writing pads in addition to crayons, pencils, long plastic envelopes, etc.

RIMM also provided a hot nutritious meal of macaroni, chicken and vegetables along with fruit juice drinks.

As the new school year starts soon, the economically struggled parents needed such events.
The barangay captain organized the participants and made their basketball court ready for the event.

However, his security guard license was expired 10 years ago as he has not had enough money to renew it. The agency has taken an advantage of it and keep delaying in paying of his salaries, sometimes for 3 months. It makes his family in a difficult situation. However, he cannot argue much as he is not currently licensed.

His wife, Elvie works at Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH) as a part-time housekeeper. Since she only works every other day, her income alone does not fully support the family.

On February 22, 2023, Our club, Rotary International Multinational Manila (RIMM), decided to provide a financial assistance of P7,000 to him for the renewal of his security guard license, so that he can select a good agency and be competitive.

He will start the renewal process including Philippine National Police (PNP) Intelligence Clearance Certificate, National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Clearance Certificate, and so on.

With his security guard license renewed, he will be able to apply for another security agency who will pay his salary on time and give employee’s benefits such as Social Security, Philhealth (health insurance), and Pagibig (home loan program).

He will keep our club informed on the renewal progress.

Update on April 14, 2023

The security agency at Camp Crame in Metro Manila recently mailed his licensed card and Dionisio finally obtained his renewed and valid security guard license.

Update on May 25th, 2023

Dionie visited our HQ on May 8, 2023 to show his security guard license card.

He was accepted to work at a bank in Tagaytay City with much higher salary rate and better benefits than before, when he did not have the active license.

Then it was sitting in the warehouse for a long time as we were unable to find a suitable public place to install it. Finally, in December 2022, we found that a daycare center near the town of Alfonso, Cavite has a yard that might be feasible for installation.

The daycare facility has newly been built with the national budget of 2.5 million pesos. The municipality bore the 1 million pesos for the perimeter walls.

There is only one teacher for the total of 68 daycare pupils in the center. The classes are divided into 4 segments of time from morning to afternoon up to 3pm. The lack of teachers is considered to be caused by low salary for teachers. It was P5,000/mo, but the new mayor has  increased it to P7,500/mo.

Gina of DSWD coordinated with Aubrey, a secretary of the municipal mayor’s office, and rushed to assemble the parts and installed the playground and the swing in the vacant yard of the daycare center, so that our club members (PP Casey, PP Raymund and Maki Nakajima from Japan) and along with the guests of Academy of World Healing Foundation from Japan (Ken Yamamoto, sports doctor Iwai and Momo Kikuta) can see them.

On January 15, 2023, the said persons visited the facility along with Gina of DSWD and the daycare teacher. Municipal workers and some volunteer parents took charge of installation. It was reported that all the assembling bolts were missing, so our club purchased them.

It was noted that the swing posts still need to be cemented on the ground and the playground posts need to be buried and cemented. It was also noted that there were some missing parts of the playground. Our club will get feedback from Rotary Club of Binan, Laguna which facilitated warehousing at Batangas port.

The donated educational toys included the followings:

• 7 cans of building blocks
• 10 sets of wooden shaped puzzles
• 7 sets of wooden Alphabetical learning panels

On January 15, 2023, past presidents Casey and Raymund, our club Rotarian Maki Nakajima from Japan and three guests from Japan (Ken Yamamoto, sports doctor Yusaku Iwai and Momo Kikuta) visited the daycare center. The teacher, Jane arranged a special class on Sunday and 15 daycare children greeted us.

The teacher oversees 15 children per class, 4 classes per day in the morning and the afternoon, totaling 60 children at the facility.

April of the Alfonso Municipal Mayor Randy’s office and the barangay Sicat educational councilor also joined the event.

A Certificate of Appreciation was handed to RIMM.

The family was selected for our support by DSWD (Department of Social Welfare Development) and LCPC (Local Council for Protection of Children) Alfonso, Cavite.

She is a single mother of 5 children who are attending high school and elementary school. Her 5th child is barely a year old.

She is a manicurist, wherein she put up a shaded spot near her rented home for her customers.

Updates on August 20, 2022

RIMM assisted Merly Montealto from Barangay Marahan1, Alfonso, Cavite on the school supplies of her 4 children attending high school and elementary school.

The school supplies consisted of backpack bags, assorted notebooks, brown envelopes, art papers, sketch pads, pencils, pens, umbrellas, socks, water tumblers, rulers, coloring pens, box of face mask, toothbrush, water color, tape, scissors, highlighter pens, rubber erasers, glue, plastic envelopes and many more were provided.

Merly and her eldest son who assisted his mother to purchase the school supplies thanked RIMM for the support.

Merly said she had no means at all to buy the school supplies as a manicurist and a single mother.

DSWD and our club have been associated for education of family planning as the Philippines is known for population explosion or baby factory, which has accelerated poverty entailing people to spend more money for nursing their children.

After being educated and assisted, Merly is willing to undergo ligation, one of the most popular contraceptive methods in the country, next month.

Updates on December 10, 2022

Rotarian Casey and Raymund, together with DSWD Alfonso Gina and former councilor Carol visited the family again.

After having 6 children from different fathers, Merly has decided to undergo ligation surgery and will take a week off from her business as a manicurist.

Our Club pledged to provide a financial assistance for her transportation to the ligation facility and food for the whole family during her off-the-work period.

Learning her eldest son has been making knitted items such as shoulder bags and sweaters, the fund assistance will cover the cost of yarns for him to further pursue knitting and potential sales of the products.

Updates on January 9, 2023

Gina of DSWD accompanied Past Presidents Casey and Raymund of Rotary International Multinational Manila (RIMM) to the rented home of Merly Montealto in Barangay Marahan 1, Alfonso to give 10 kilos of rice on January 9, 2023.

Her eldest son does crochet, and some of his completed items were displayed. He is selling them for his own school needs.

Merly was ligated in December 2022 and financial assistance to survive during her resting that also included the transportation cost for her ligation and yarn materials for her son was given by our club. She has 6 children and a single mother working as a manicurist.

Donation of Rescue Gear

On January 18, 2022, RIMM Honorary Member and Staff Sgt. Jun Baurile of the Philippine Army Reserved Command (ARESCOM) received life-saving equipment such as harness gear, ropes, carabiners, etc. donated by our club.

He will be using them during the military training courses of male college students.

The equipment was shipped from Hawaii, U.S.A.

The doctor talked extensively about Maternal Health and Child Care During Pandemic Time citing common problems encountered of women with regards to taking care of their health when they could not go to the clinic due to travel restrictions, and answering specific questions women asks with regards to pregnancy, women’s health in general and Child Care in Particular.

Ms. Parenno discussed Maternal Health and Child Care from the point of view of the Mother of three healthy young children, a wife and a teacher. She poised some practical techniques on motherhood during this time of pandemic on how to cope up and home management secrets.

Ms Alcazar tackled the topic Teenage Pregnancy and Responsible Parenthood. She gave us recent data on young pregnant mothers in every barangay, to the Municipality and regional level. Alarming figures shows how bad the situation is.

The webinar was able to share many new information to the women that can help other women facing these challenges in their barangays and AWC President and its members were grateful to our club and its resource speakers for the webinar.
The webinar will not be possible without the help and cooperation of the President of Alfonso Women’s Council, Ms. Len Reyes and the technical support of Gia Erica Rivera. of the Alfonso Mayor’s Office.
The webinar lasted longer as planned till about 6p.m. A total 7,500.00 pesos Raffle prizes thru G cash was given to active participants coming from all the barangays of Alfonso, There were a total of 64 active participants in all Others come and go maybe of poor connection.
We awarded 74 Certificates of Participation and 3 Certificates of Recognition to our Resource Speakers.

The webinar cost of P30,000 was fully sponsored by our club.

A Philippine non-profit organization Academy of World Healing Foundation (AWH) which provides the HQ facility to our club at no cost provided the following items that were donated by its guests from Japan:

• schools supplies
• adult clothing
• travel size hygiene items (shampoo, toothbrush, toothpaste, soap)
• bags
• men’s shoe

Children’s faces were lit up each time an item was individually handed to them. They also received P20 coins each. While the event was on-going the children opened their packed biscuits and drinks immediately.

The leader of Camp Hope was very grateful for extending the spirit of Christmas to their children. He even mentioned that it was only our club who helped them with weekly food supply during the Enhanced Community Quarantine period when they were not able to go out to sell taho (tofu), their vending staple. In a joyous voice all of the children said, “Maraming salamat po” (translation: “Thank you”) at the end of the event.
