Christmas Giving in Barangay Kaytitinga, Alfonso

On December 30, 2020 our club sponsored a Christmas gift event in barangay Kaytitinga Uno, Alfonso, Cavite.

Present were our club president (TP) Lito, past president Raymund, Honorary member and Sargent of Philippine Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) Jun Baurile, Sgt. Janet of ARESCOM and Gina of Department of Social Welfare Development (DSWD) Alfonso, who shared vital information on Responsible Parenthood, Teenage Pregnancy and Vasectomy.

There were 60 participants (indigents and 4 P’s members of the community) who received a bag of rice, assorted canned goods and noodles.

The indigent recipients as well as barangay volunteers received P100 cash each.

During the event Raymund thanked past president Don Shields of Rotary Club of Geelong Central in Australia for his generous donation for the event and everyone applauded to show their heartfelt gratitude.

The Barangay captain Noralyn Hernando and her team awarded our club a Certificate of Appreciation.

Assistance to 49 Indigent Students at Camp Hope in New School Year

On May 28, 2019, a club Member Manilito Mondejar and other volunteers assisted in the donation by RIMM of the complete set of school uniforms, black shoes, back pack bags, assorted school supplies, socks and used clothing to 44 students at Camp Hope in barangay Sicat, Alfonso, Cavite. Oral hygiene kits donated by DS Marni Sy of Rotary Club of Cavite Export Processing Zone were also distributed to the 49 indigent students.

On May 31, 2019, RIMM followed up and facilitated the donation of such school supplies to the 5 most indigent students in barangay Sicat, Alfonso, Cavite at its headquarters in the same barangay (village).

The said school items donation totaled P50,074.50.

There are 8 students in Day Care, 1 in Kindergarten, 15 in Elementary and 20 in High School from Camp Hope while there are 2 in Elementary and 3 in High school from Brgy. Sicat.

School year usually starts in June in the Philippines. The new school year of Kindergarten and Elementary will commence on June 3, 2019 and Day Care on June 17, 2019.

The indigent students and mothers of Camp Hope were very grateful to RIMM and were excited to attend school. The 5 most indigent students in Brgy. Sicat had no school uniforms, broken shoes and no school supplies a few days before the start of new school year and were in tears of joy when RIMM provided them unexpectedly their much needed school items.

Eliminating Tuberculosis (TB)

Letter of appreciation from Mayor Varias and Dr. Manzo of the Alfonso Municipal Health Office for RIMM’s continuing support in assisting to boost the resistance and improve the health of tuberculosis patients with the goal of eradicating the disease in the area by 2030.

Donations to Day Care, Kindergarden & former Grade 6 students

On June 19, 2018 RIMM represented by President Betty Vicedo and Incoming President Raymund Balicha donated complete set of school uniforms and shoes to the following:

36 indigent Brgy. Sicat Day Care pupils
15 indigent Kindergarten pupils at the Brgy. Sicat Elementary School
21 former Grade 6 pupils at Brgy. Sicat Elementary School who are now in Grade 7 High School

In addition to the above RIMM also donated assorted school supplies for a year supply and mono-block educational toys for the Kindergarten pupils.
The total cost of above donation was P50,170. The school officials and the students were very thankful to RIMM for the donations that greatly benefits the indigent students this school year.

2017 Christmas Day Event at RIMM President Betty’s House

On December 25, 2017, RIMM President Betty invited nearby indigent families with their children to have lunch at her house. She also gave gifts to them.

RIMM members brought 3 bags of rice, cans of corned meat, bath soap and noodles for 3 indigent families residing in Brgy. Sicat that Pres. Betty has been attending too since one of the children has been a rape victim.

RIMM has been giving out financial assistance every quarter to Gina of DSWD for its program “Stop Sexual Abuse on Children”.

Pres. Betty has been voluntarily doing the Christmas Day community service evey year even before she became a Rotarian. Many other indigent families from Brgy. Sicat in Alfonso and relatives also joined in the whole day occasion.

Providing Housing Materials for Informal Settlers

RIMM donated initial construction materials to assist in rebuilding the shanties of the informal settlers at Usting, Luksuhin Ibaba who were evicted from barangay Mangas II in Alfonso, Cavite, Philippines.

Barangay Luksuhin Ibaba lady Captain Cynthia was on site with us to witness the donation of the materials and rebuilding of the shanties.

Richard, the leader of the informal settlers, worked with all the male settlers on building four houses (one of which where Henry’s family resides) that needed assistances the most. They were very grateful of RIMM’s donation of the housing materials.

An additional funding is allocated to continue their house reconstruction this month.

RIMM is buying housing materials at a local hardware store for the informal settlers.

Donation of A Solar Charger

As we learned that the residents of the squatter village in Mangas II, Alfonso, Cavite were paying 10 pesos for every cellphone charging at their neighbor house, RIMM member donated his personal solar charger device to them.
Many gathered to see the magical instrument which they likely have never seen in their life. Since some cellphones required additional adapter cables, RIMM donated P150 cash so they can buy them in the market.

Updates of Henry (who were almost dying in the beginning of the year): He shaved his hair and looked all right.
Updates of the baby girl with a lump on her arm: The little space with some tarpaulin sheet wrapped as wall is where the mother and the baby girl sleep. They are just “borrowing” the space to sleep. The skin surface of the hemangioma has scabs.
The recently delivered baby who had a little jaundice before seem to be all right now. She just has some mosquito bites.

Indigent Family Support with Guests from Overseas

Guests from overseas, largely Japan, had donated clothing to RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) and wanted to further assist the 25 Samar families of the squatter village in barangay Mangas II, Alfonso, Cavite through RIMM. Totally 5 days in different groups IPP (Immediate Past President) Klaus drove them by AWH van to the site where clothing, rice, staples and baked goods were distributed as to the needs of the families. Representatives from DSWD worked with the group’s leader on indigent certificates subsequent to meetings RIMM had with them at City Hall. Seven family support (and cleanup days with all children receiving P5 for picking up garbage0 were conducted during the month. Bags were provided to the children for trash collection and hauled by RIMM from the site for proper disposal.

Club Meeting – Jan 21, 2014

The Jan. 21, 2014 club meeting was attended by non-Rotarian guests from Japan and focused on the support trips for the Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda) victims. The meeting was preceded by a PowerPoint program (slide show presentation) of the Dec. 6-14, 2013 trip. Some of the guests attending had donated cash and goods distributed to some of the most needy during the trip. The proposed Jan. 27-Febr. 3, 2014 second trip was discussed and finalized. The meeting was followed by a fellowship get-together with the Japanese guests.
