Support for Typhoon Rai Victims

On December 16, 2021, Typhoon Rai (local name Odette) brought torrential rains, violent winds, landslides and storm surges in the provinces of Surigao del Norte and Dinagat Islands in MIndanao, in five provinces of Visayas and in the island of Palawan.
The Rotary Club of Multinational Manila (RiMM) donated the amount of P20,000 on January 5, 2022 to the Arts Relief Mobile Kitchen (ARMK), a group consists of volunteers that aims to feed the hungry through community kitchen organized especially for the victims of Typhoon Rai this time.
On January 6, 2022 ARMK served hot meals consisting of Mung beans, pork sinigang and rice to over 1,000 individuals in the hard hit town of San Jose, Dinagat Island where almost nothing was left in the homes of the people.

ARMK completed a 7 day feeding mission in Dinagat Island and almost cooked 7,000 hot meals in the towns of Agusan Del Norte, Surigao Del Norte and Bohol.
ARMK shared happiness with RIMM to feed many homeless and hungry victims of the typhoon.

On January 11, 2022, RIMM honorary member and Staff Sgt. Jun Baurile of the Philippine Army received P26,000 from our club to give assistance to the Typhoon Odette (international name: Rai) victims.

He plans to buy rice and canned goods. Since he cannot physically go to the affected areas he will send them to their military base in Tanza, Cavite for distribution to the affected families.

Typhoon Ulysses Emergency Food Donation and Its Distribution

In order to provide immediate support to people everywhere suffering from the continuous calamities in the Philippines, our Rotary Club turned to Honorary Rotarian Baurile for advice. As Sergeant in the Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM), for which he would also be honored as the Best Enlisted Reservist of the Year in the Army Reserve for his unselfish and dedicated service to the people of the Philippines, he was leaving on a relief mission for the suffering victims of destructive Typhoon Ulysses the first week of December. He therefore suggested quick support for this mission and the club immediately provided him with ₱45,000 to purchase and package supplies, which consisted of rice, canned goods, cup noodles, biscuits and personal hygiene kits, that were distributed by the army with him as coordinator of the project to over 2,500 victims of flooding and displacement in the Province of Cagayan Valley.

We herewith want to thank our club members for their continuous support in making such humanitarian missions possible whenever and wherever the need arises.

International Medical Assistance for National Emergency

During November 2015 through January 2016, RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) coordinated a non-profit & non-government organization called Japan Heart, which dispatches Japanese volunteer medical doctors and nurses to ASEAN countries, with governmental organizations in the Philippines in order to provide their medical assistance in case of national emergencies.

RIMM introduced Japan Heart to 4CDG-ARESCOM (4th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command) and visited Colonel Pasqual at Camp Eldridge, Los Banos, Laguna. It was agreed that 4CDG-ARESCOM would facilitate land-transportation for emergency medical mission of Japan Heart in the region 4A (CALABARZON) & 4B( MIMAROPA).

RIMM then set up an meeting with the Department of Health. Director Dr. Gloria Balboa of Health Emergency Management Bureau summoned Chief Health Program Officer Dr. Joel Buenaventura and Medical Specialist Dr. Ronald Law of Bureau of International Health Cooperation and had a meeting at DOH office in Santa Cruz, Manila with Japan Heart representative Ms. Mika Aono and aneurosurgeon Dr. Miki Kanaji who is a RIMM member and volunteered in Myanmar with Japan Heart.

RIMM and Japan Heart learned that after typhoon Haiyan (Filipino name: Yolanda) there was a bill constructed to deal with such National disaster emergency and PIHAC (Philippine International Humanitarian Assistance Cluster) was established, as there was no such organization before. PIHAC is authorized on behalf of the other department such as DFA (Department of Foreign Affairs) and DOH to handle and coordinate foreign voluntary organizations which come to assist in case of emergency. Basically in normal time PRC (Professional Regulation Commission) licenses are required to conduct medical services in the Philippines. However, it will be waived with pre-registration with DOH as a foreign voluntary organization.

Japan Heart confirmed to work on the application documents for pre-registration.
