On December 24, 2021, Staff Sgt. Jun Baurile of Philippine Army Reserve Command (ARESCOM) who is also our honorary member picked up the financial support from our club for “first responder” on road accidents .

Donation of Rescue Gear

On January 18, 2022, RIMM Honorary Member and Staff Sgt. Jun Baurile of the Philippine Army Reserved Command (ARESCOM) received life-saving equipment such as harness gear, ropes, carabiners, etc. donated by our club.

He will be using them during the military training courses of male college students.

The equipment was shipped from Hawaii, U.S.A.

Laurel Evacuation Center

Municipality of Laurel in Batangas province located North-West of Taal Volcano which erupted on January 12, 2020, has approximately 41,000 population across 21 barangays (villages) where the majority are within 14km radius. RIMM members met with the mayor Joan of Laurel and she explained that 60 percent of them are in the evacuation centers and 40 percent evacuated to their private acquaintances including their relatives or families out side of the affected zone.

Basically, Laurel evacuees are addressed to the evacuation centers in Alfonso, Tagaytay areas in Cavite. Talisay evacuees had been sheltered in Tanauan City in Batangas. Agoncillo and Lemery evacuees went to San Luis, Batangas.

Mayor Joan expressed her concern about the evacuee’s livelihood. According to her, some of the evacuees had applied jobs as nanny, massage therapists and household helpers.

In the meantime, 480 people out of 141 families from Laurel had evacuated in the gym of Splendido, Taal which usually operates as condominium/hotel & golf resort that is now shut down temporary to offer shelter as an evacuation center. Since nobody is currently in Laurel, provision of electricity has stopped. There is a small generator occasionally turned on for functions and largely cell phone charging.

Municipality of Laurel provides food supplies and basic commodity needs for the evacuees at Splendido. There are many other organizations provide and donate various items, food and entertainment to cheer them up.

Since the school education has been scheduled to be conducted at the evacuation center, RIMM provided school supplies such as notebooks and pencils to the students, as well as some toys for little boys and girls.

RIMM as Guest Speakers on Family Planning upon the Invitation of RC-Pasay

On May 24, 2017 past president Raymund Balicha and Jun Baurille of Rotary International Multinational Manila (RIMM) along with Liezel Alcazar of Kiwanis Alfonso Chapter attended the weekly meeting of the Rotary Club of Pasay as guest speakers upon the invitation of RC-Pasay club president Marc Martin to share RIMM’s Family Planning programs to his club members. The venue was held at the Manila Polo Club in Forbes Park, Makati, Metro Manila.

IPP Raymund reported providing financial assistance and working with Friendly Care to perform free ligation to hundreds of women in hospitals in Cavite and Tagaytay. He also relayed statistics on high Teenage Pregnancy in the Philippines. Power point presentation showed many photos of ligation activities and Teenage Pregnancy Forums in Alfonso and Tagaytay.

Honorary Member Jun showed photos of his emergency rescue operations involving many vehicular accidents.

Liezel shared her in-dept insights on issues on the high pregnancy rate in the Philippines and her active involvement during our Teenage Pregnancy Forums.

At the end of the event Rotary Club of Manila members told us that it was an eye-opener for them that family planning is key to prevent over population in the Philippines.

Spine Board Donation to ARESCOM

On February 14, 2016, as suggested by our honorary member surgent Baurile, RIMM (Rotary International Multinational Manila) donated a handmade spine board for emergency use to the medical team in 4CDG-ARESCOM (4th Regional Community Defense Group, Army Reserve Command) at Camp Riego de Dios in Tanza, Cavite.
It was appreciated and recognized by the group commander Rommel Cabanayan and major De Sagun.

Bridging for Disaster Related Medical Missions

On December 6, 2015 (ST. Nikolaus Day) the ARESCOM (Army Reserve Command) of 4RCDG (4th Region Community Defense Group) of the Philippine Army (PA) sponsored a feeding program, largely for children, in Julugan, Tanza, Cavite.
Participating soldiers were volunteers and Colonel Pascual and Major De Sagun personally helped to fund the event.

Former Rotarian presidents of RIMM had been invited to the event as it was known that RIMM Rotarians (Rotary International Club Multinational Manila) had personally conducted three support tours to the disaster-stricken areas of Typhoon Yolanda (Haiyan) and that one of its members – a doctor residing in Japan – also volunteers her services to “Japan Heart“. Japan Heart, a Japanese NGO, dispatches groups of volunteer doctors and nurses to Southeast Asian countries during natural disasters and can be of great assistance in the Philippines during such destructive calamities.

Past RIMM president Casey, a native of Japan, discussed his contacts with Japan Heart and followed up with arranging a person-to person meeting with Colonel Pascual and Major De Sagun in January 2016 as the representative of Japan Heart will visit the Philippines for the purpose of expanding its services to the Philippines.
