After an enjoyable lunch we had a fellowship meeting that was also attended by some of our club members from Japan and a guest Rotarian, Takashi Narishige from Mizunami, Gifu club in Japan who exchanged club flags with us. Governor Liza was presented with a District flag from District 9780 in Australia through our cooperating Geelong Central Club in Victoria. Australia and her team presented five of our club Rotarians with the Paul Harris Fellow recognition and pins.

Gov. Liza gave an inspiring overview of the many needs in the world and the place of Rotary to assist effectively. She pledged a District grant of $1,000 to assist the club with its support of the 64 families of the relocated AETA village in San Luis as with High School and College scholarships for deserving students and recommended that the club provide application summaries ASAP to the District. RIMM provided an overview of its many projects with the most pressing being cooperative disaster relief with the District, DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) and the City of Alfonso after the Jan. 10, 2020 Taal Volcano eruption. Ongoing projects such as family planning, assisting indigent families, teaming up with DSWD and local barangay (village) captains to prevent/discourage sexual abuse of women & children by bringing perpetrators to justice, school supplies and school uniforms, birth certificates for indigents, donations in kind from Australia clubs, etc. were also discussed.

While the meeting was somewhat overshadowed by the uncertainty pertaining to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) epidemic, it closed with participants pledging to cooperatively accomplish even more with the limited resources available.

]]> Assistance to 49 Indigent Students at Camp Hope in New School Year https://www.rotarymm.org/assistance-to-49-indigent-students-at-camp-hope-in-new-school-year/ Thu, 06 Jun 2019 19:12:24 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=1939 On May 28, 2019, a club Member Manilito Mondejar and other volunteers assisted in the donation by RIMM of the complete set of school uniforms, black shoes, back pack bags, assorted school supplies, socks and used clothing to 44 students at Camp Hope in barangay Sicat, Alfonso, Cavite. Oral hygiene kits donated by DS Marni Sy of Rotary Club of Cavite Export Processing Zone were also distributed to the 49 indigent students.

On May 31, 2019, RIMM followed up and facilitated the donation of such school supplies to the 5 most indigent students in barangay Sicat, Alfonso, Cavite at its headquarters in the same barangay (village).

The said school items donation totaled P50,074.50. 
 
There are 8 students in Day Care, 1 in Kindergarten, 15 in Elementary and 20 in High School from Camp Hope while there are 2 in Elementary and 3 in High school from Brgy. Sicat. 
 
School year usually starts in June in the Philippines. The new school year of Kindergarten and Elementary will commence on June 3, 2019 and Day Care on June 17, 2019.
 
The indigent students and mothers of Camp Hope were very grateful to RIMM and were excited to attend school. The 5 most indigent students in Brgy. Sicat had no school uniforms, broken shoes and no school supplies a few days before the start of new school year and were in tears of joy when RIMM provided them unexpectedly their much needed school items.
]]> Donations to Day Care, Kindergarden & former Grade 6 students https://www.rotarymm.org/donations-to-day-care-kindergarden-former-grade-6-students/ Mon, 02 Jul 2018 08:56:15 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=1786 On June 19, 2018 RIMM represented by President Betty Vicedo and Incoming President Raymund Balicha donated complete set of school uniforms and shoes to the following:

  1. 36 indigent Brgy. Sicat Day Care pupils
  2. 15 indigent Kindergarten pupils at the Brgy. Sicat Elementary School
  3. 21 former Grade 6 pupils at Brgy. Sicat Elementary School who are now in Grade 7 High School

In addition to the above RIMM also donated assorted school supplies for a year supply and mono-block educational toys for the Kindergarten pupils.
The total cost of above donation was P50,170. The school officials and the students were very thankful to RIMM for the donations that greatly benefits the indigent students this school year.

]]> Brigada Eskwela Event in Cavite https://www.rotarymm.org/brigada-eskwela-event-in-cavite/ Thu, 31 May 2018 20:35:06 +0000 https://www.rotarymm.org/?p=1597 On May 28, 2018 RIMM joined the other Cavite chapter Rotarians for the “Brigada Eskwela” (Working Together for Schools) event in Alulod Elementary School in Indang, Cavite, Philippines.

Each participating Rotary club endorsed financial support for donating big pails of assorted paints & other materials for the said school.

The principal was grateful that her school was the chosen as the beneficiary of the said event.

After that all the Rotarians headed to Malipay Elementary School in Molino, Cavite and assisted Rotary Club of Molino for its donation of 150 sets of complete school supplies for the Kindergarden and Grade 1 pupils.
